Happy Valentine's Day.  The February break is almost here . . . just four more sleeps!!!

At the end of last week, a note was sent home regarding the movie we plan to watch on Friday.  Students who plan to watch Schindler's List, need to return the signed note from a parent or guardian, indicating consent to see this movie.  The alternative to watching Schindler's List is another movie, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.  This is based on the novel by the same title; one of the novels that was studied in the literacy groups that we are now just finishing with.  This movie is rated PG 13 and while it still explores the very upsetting topic of the Holocaust, it is considered less intense.  If this is your movie of choice, please just indicate so on the note or by email.

Have a fabulous Day.

?
Good afternoon everyone.  Tomorrow is another PD day so please do not pull yourself out of bed early unnecessarily.  I hate to see a good sleep in wasted.  Keep your eyes on the homework updates in the column to the right as well as the "Important Dates For February" list.

Below is a copy of the note that went home today.  Please be sure to have a parent/guardian indicate whether or not you have permission to see the movie and return it ASAP.

Have a fabulous long weekend.

 February 9, 2017,

Dear Parents:

As we complete our holocaust unit in E.L.A., we would like to show the movie “Schindler’s List”. The movie fits nicely as a culminating activity to the Literature Circles we have studied.  We will be watching the movie Friday, February 17th, 2017.

Schindlers List   14-A
Arguably Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece, this gripping adaptation of Thomas Keneally’s novel tells a story of Oscar Schindler (Neeson), a German industrialist who saved upward of 1,100 Jews from the Nazi death camps by employing them in his factory during the war. This film won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1993.

The movie has some nudity, which would be fast-forwarded.  There are some graphic scenes of WWII and life in concentration camps.

The students must bring this form back with a parent signature giving approval to watch this movie.  If for any reason you would not want to let your son/daughter watch this movie, simply state this below.  An alternate activity will be provided for students not watching the movie.  If you have any questions/concerns, feel free to call the school at 306-791-8585.

Sincerely,

Kevin Yeske
Kelley Reoch
Angela Scott
Kyle DuMont

Good afternoon everyone.

Due to this extremely cold weather, tomorrow's ski/snowboard trip to Mission Ridge has been postponed to March 21st.  I guess the weather prediction is that it will not warm up enough to be outside until 4:00 pm.  Therefore, tomorrow will proceed as a typical day 4.

Have a great evening and stay warm!!!!
