The first month of school is already over!  That was fast.  Please take a  moment to look at the Important Dates for October.  There are several and I don't want anyone to miss anything.

Our QSP magazine drive is almost finished.  This is your last weekend to get those magazine orders in and earn some foxes or Dairy Queen gift cards.  We will be having the windup assembly on Monday at 3:00 pm.  Let's finish strong!

There are a few students who have already fallen behind in Health and/or ELA.  Please use this weekend of very little homework to catch up on those assignments.  If your memory needs a refresh, I'm looking for the Time Capsule Writing Assignment, the questions to "The Crags Beneath Malpelo Island", and the Personal Standards Collage.  Let's get caught up before new assignments get handed out and overwhelm us.

Thanks for a fabulous beginning to the school year.  September was great!

Hello everyone.  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.

Please keep your eye on the Homework Updates and the Important Dates.  We have assignments due this week and other things to stay on top of.  One thing to keep in mind is that Umoja auditions start tomorrow at 8:15 am.  Please be on time for the time slot you signed up for.

Later this week we wrap our QSP fundraiser.  Please keep working on selling those magazines.  The wind  up assembly is on Thursday, September 29th.

That's all for now.  Have a fabulous evening.

Good evening everyone.  It's Friday!!!!

Please keep your eye on the Homework Updates and Dates to Remember.  Yesterday, an important note about Mr. MacKenzie's pancake breakfast went home.  Please complete and return ASAP so we know how many people to prepare for.  I'm still waiting for a few more lunch room forms and media release forms to be handed in.  Please return these forms by Monday so that we can take care of all filing, etc.

That's all for now.  A Happy Birthday to a couple of our class members and I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.

Wow - we did it!  We made it through our first full week of school.  Who knew five days could hold so much?  Thank you to everyone who made it out to our Back to School Barbecue and Meet the Teacher night.  It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet some new families as well.  If you were unable to come by, please drop in to see me one of these days and pick up the Parent Portal access information.

The Grade sevens had fun learning to canoe this week.  Below are some pictures of their experience:

They appeared to be having a great time.  Next up - canoeing at Wascana Lake - where tipping the canoe is NOT encouraged!!!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone.  See you on Monday.

Hello everyone.  Welcome back to a brand new week.  Please keep your eye on the homework list to the right so you are up to date on all assignments.

Grade 7's are canoeing tomorrow and my group is leaving the school at 12:30 pm.  That means no one has time to go home for lunch.  Please bring your lunch, swimsuit, towel and a quarter for the locker.

We have a very busy week coming up.  On Wednesday we have picture day.  Also on Wednesday is the Back to School Barbecue and meet the teacher night, running from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

Our QSP kick off assembly will be at 2:30 on Thursday afternoon.  Our Track Meet runs all day at Douglas Park on September 21st and our Terry Fox walk is happening on September 22nd.

Thanks for checking in.  Have a fabulous evening.

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Hello everyone and thanks for checking in.  I've been working at making this blog a little easier to navigate.

On the right hand side you will notice that there are two important sections:  Homework Updates and Important Dates to Remember for September.  I will regularly be adding to the Homework Updates and every month, I will list the important dates for that month.  Please keep your eye on these two sections.

If you have been checking regularly, you may already notice a change in one of the dates.  I had originally understood that the Grade 7 canoeing would happen on September 12th.  That date has been changed to Tuesday, the 13th.  All students will need to bring their bathing suit, towel and a quarter for the locker.  Many students have already returned their permission slips. If you have not already done so, please have that returned to me by tomorrow and remember to pay the $4.50 online.

I am also still waiting for a few Lunch Room Registrations and Media Release Forms.  Even if you do not plan to ever stay for lunch, please return the pink form and just indicate on there that you are not registering for the lunch room.  Thanks so much for your help with this.

That's all for now.  Have a fabulous Thursday and remember to wear your green tomorrow.

Good afternoon.  I'm sure many of you are feeling as annoyed with the alarm clock as I am.  The good news is you're about to have three days off.  We have a few things to be aware of already:

Grade 7's - canoeing forms are going home today.  Please pay online and return the completed form on Tuesday.  Our first lesson is on September 12th, so this needs to be taken care of immediately;
Track and Field - Track day is on September 21st.  Payment for the bus needs to be made online and the signed permission slips need to be returned no later than September 16th.  A copy of this letter is below;
Milk - once again, students are able to purchase milk for their lunches.  This is another thing that needs to be paid for online with the School Payment System.  Forms for this are also going home today.
Art - we are starting an art project next week that requires preparation beforehand.  Please work on collecting various magazines and pictures that represent you and the various things you are interested in.  I would like have these in the class on Tuesday so that we are prepared for Art.

Thanks for a fabulous start to the school year.  Below I have attached the letter regarding Track and Field:
